Becky Albertalli revealed that her third book will be titled Leah on the Offbeat. Set in the same universe as Albertalli’s previous novels, Leah on the Offbeat will follow Leah, a student at Shady Creek High School and best friend of the titular protagonist of Albertalli’s debut novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.
Albertalli has teased several details of the book on , including the fact that Leah is bisexual, and has known about her sexuality since age 11. Albertalli also revealed that characters from both Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and her recently-released second novel, The Upside of Unrequited, will make cameo appearances, and Leah on the Offbeat will feature a promposal between a previously established couple.
The film adaptation of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, featuring Katherine Langford as Leah, is currently in post-production. Leah on the Offbeat is tentatively slated for release in Spring 2018.
