Noelle Stevenson is on the rise. Her Wonder Woman comics have been described as among the best Wonder Woman comics ever written. The first trade paperback of her new comic series Lumberjanes was one of the hottest things to grab at BookExpo America.
Then there’s her newly released graphic novel Nimona. Nimona began as a web comic, which won Stevenson multiple awards and prizes, and the graphic novel has only brought Stevenson more fans.
And with those fans came a film deal.
The Hollywood Reporter announced that Fox Animation bought rights to a film adaptation of Nimona. The film will be directed by Patrick Osborne. Marc Haimes will write the script. Adam Stone and Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment will produce.
Nimona follows a shapeshifting teen girl named Nimona in a medieval-meets-modern world, where knights use cellphones, swords and hoverboards. She teams up with the evil Lord Ballister Blackheart to take down a group called the Corporation.
The film will be animated. Whether or not Stevenson will have a hand in animating it is yet to be known.
