After teasing each other for months, authors Maggie Stiefvater and John Green are putting their money where their Tweets are and racing cars to raise money for the charity Driver’s Edge.
The racetrack asked me if I had a fireproof racing suit for my race with . WHY, AS A MATTER OF FACT
— Maggie Stiefvater (@mstiefvater)
(We are not yet sure what kind of car John will be driving but we are hopeful that it will have, like, wheels. And an engine. -rhr)
— John Green (@johngreen)
The race will take place on Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Princeton Speedway in Minnesota. There will be a $5 admission at the door to help raise money, with no tickets to be pre-sold. Anybody can attend.
Or, as Stiefvater describes it in , “many cars! many laps! leading up to Maggie in Mitsubishi vs. John Green in race car.”
Driver’s Edge is a non-profit organization that runs programs for young drivers to teach safe driving techniques.
Green is the author of numerous YA novels, including the The Fault in Our Stars, and is known for his numerous YouTube channels, including Vlogbrothers and Crash Course. Stiefvater is the author of the Raven Cycle series, the Wolves of Mercy Falls series, and more.
